Tropical Storm Danny Strengthens In Caribbean Waters

(August 26) Tropical Storm Danny could turn into a Category 1 hurricane.

By Wednesday evening, tropical storm Danny had winds sweeping at 45 miles per hour and was brewing 390 miles west of Nassau, Bahamas, 735 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and 1,100 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard.

The National Hurricane Center reports that the Bahamas and Southeastern United States should monitor the storm’s progress.

Danny is moving toward the west-northwest.  A decrease in forward speed is expected tonight and Thursday while a turn toward the North is expected for Friday.  The storm is expected to cause a maximum rainfall of 4 inches with 1 to 2 inches of rain over the Southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

Stay tuned for a Caribbean tropical storm update.
