Hurricane Bill Moves Away From Caribbean Towards Bermuda
(August 18) As Hurricane Bill intensifies, the storm moves away from the Caribbean, and points towards Bermuda.
Hurricane Bill, the first hurricane of the Atlantic season is predicted to gain major hurricane status within the next two days.
Currently, the eye of the hurricane is about 810 miles east of Leeward Islands in the Caribbean and is set on a path west-northwest at 17 mph. Hurricane Bill is expected to continue on this path for the next day or two with a gradual shift to the northwest on Wednesday. Matthew Rinde, a meteorologist at Accuweather.com, forecasts that Hurricane Bill may pass within 100 miles of Bermuda.
Travelers rest assured, Denis Feltgen, the spokesman for the National Hurricane Center, says, people in Florida could probably “breath a little sigh of relief,” and “it looks like Bill certainly won’t be a threat to the Caribbean.”
