What Does All-Inclusive Resort Really Mean?

(April 26) While numerous resorts may try to woo travelers by offers of all-inclusive Caribbean vacation packages, some resorts are strategically withholding important details.

Before booking your next “all-inclusive” Caribbean getaway, consider the following points:

“All-inclusive,” suggests that all food, beverages, accommodations and activities are paid for.  Many packages are actually “semi-inclusive,” and guests must pay additional fees for certain activities, top-shelf liquor, certain menu items, etc.

- How is the service?

Some all-inclusive packages specify that food and drink are not available 24 hours a day, menus are limited, there isn’t room service, etc.

- Is air travel included?

Many all-inclusive packages include airfare, however, connections to the departure city and charter flights can be expensive.

- Is there a hurricane guarantee?

During hurricane season, June through November, many resorts offer hurricane guarantees, however most cost extra.
